Why iPhone → Android is usually a hassle

Apple's AirDrop only talks to other Apple devices, so it's no help sending to Android. The official "Move to iOS" app only goes the other way. That leaves cables (fiddly and often photo-only), Google Photos uploads (needs storage and a round-trip), or apps that cap free transfers. DropAnything skips all of it - both phones just open a web page.

Step by step

  1. On the iPhone, open DropAnything, tap Send, and choose the photos and videos you want (HEIC, JPG, MP4 - anything).
  2. It shows a QR code and a 6-digit code. On the Android phone, open the same link (or scan the QR with the Camera / Google Lens) and it connects.
  3. The files stream directly across with a progress bar. Tap Save photos & videos to gallery and they land in your Android Gallery / Google Photos at full quality.

Going the other way (Android → iPhone) works exactly the same - just start "Send" on the Android phone instead.

Full quality, nothing lost

DropAnything sends the original files byte-for-byte over a direct connection between the two phones, so a Live Photo's still frame, a 48 MP shot or a 4K clip arrives uncompressed. Nothing is uploaded to a server.

FAQ

Will my iPhone HEIC photos open on Android?

Modern Android handles HEIC. If you prefer JPGs, set the iPhone camera to "Most Compatible" (Settings → Camera → Formats) before taking photos, or send what you have - the files transfer either way.

Do both phones need the same app?

No app at all - both just open the same web link.

Is there a limit on how much I can send?

No cap. Send a handful or a huge batch; very large batches can go in groups.

Does it cost anything?

No - it's free, with no account or watermark.
